The door to the San Rafael chapel is one of its many outstanding restored features. This church stood abandoned for forty years until restored in 1990 by "Cornerstones." Volunteers from La Cueva, New Mexico, and neighboring towns, with the assistance of outside volunteers, worked tirelessly over the next seven years to restore the building, using local craftsmen's skills and equipment.
