How did I get here?
The Great Outdoors was the spawning pool for my fondest childhood memories. From squishing mud between my toes, examining pollywogs under a magnifying glass, and capturing luminescent fireflies, to whittling sticks with my pocketknife, simmering campfire stew, and crisping marshmallows for s'mores with my children… those were the best of times!
For too long I drifted away from time spent doing the things I love, caught up in the throes of everyday life ….but recent years provided me with opportunities to get my hands and feet dirty once again. I look back now and wonder why it took me so long to return to the things I love doing most. Among my favorite people are those I have met while hiking, fishing, horseback riding, or other outdoors-y ventures. Each journey affords me the opportunity to meet and get to know folks from all over the country. There is a kinship and affection shared by all those I meet, those who appreciate this food for the soul nurtured by the Great Outdoors.
Photography snuck its way into my life, initially as a means for me to capture incredible moments (i.e., that 22-inch rainbow trout so folks would know it wasn't a fish-tale!). Friends and family soon proclaimed to me my gift of perspective, composition, light, texture and color, and the use of these for capturing wonderful and majestic moments through daring perspective.
Sometimes you just have to get down and dirty to capture that special moment!
So here I am…boldly sharing my special "moments" with you, those caught in the blink of an eye. Come with me, enjoy these captured moments. They are all pure and simple. I hope they will speak to your soul as they have to mine.
